#4 Should we Always Be Optimizing? Yes? No? Yes!

No. Sometimes the best optimization strategy is not to be optimizing. You're not on 24/7, nor should you be. When you've had a long day, your brain is fried and your batteries are on "please recharge now", the best thing to do with your time is not to optimize. The best course of action might be to do nothing or go into veg mode.
Then again, maybe you are still optimizing - by taking care of yourself. Does it mean to zone out in front of the TV or scrolling on TikTok or YouTube? You could, I guess. Or you could spend your time doing something beneficial for yourself like meditation, yoga, reading a book, taking the dogs for a walk, being out in nature. Calling a friend or meeting up for a beverage with an old friend could be the right thing to do.
So wait, I guess if you are using your down time well, then you are still optimizing. So I'm wrong. Yes, you should always be optimizing even if what you are doing doesn't look or feel like optimizing by taking your foot off the gas pedal.
